Sports
c0mments!
The ball swishes around his feet, enters the side of the square, he lifts his foot up, and the ball sails beautifully into the goal. Well, you guessed it. I'm back to write about sports. For sports, playing football is my favourite sport, although I enjoy others as well, like basketball, tennis, so on and so forth. Did I tell you I am also an avid soccer fan? I support not one but three soccer clubs, which are Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool. My most hated football clubs are Tottenham, and Chelsea. I like soccer because I enjoy the thrill of it when the football lands at your feet and you have to dribble it. I'm not saying that I'm the world's best forward player, actually, the best position I play in is being a Defender. However, dribbling a ball also takes some skill. It is a skill all established forward players must develop and hone to perfection, not freeze up when the ball comes flying his way. For me, I have not mastered this skill, but I'm getting there. For some soccer players, this skill took them many years to fully master.
As i have mentioned before, apart from soccer, I also like to play tennis and basketball. I used to take tennis training when I was in Secondary 1, but I have since then stopped due to my examinations. Now, I still play tennis with my father sometimes, and learn some new skills then. When I am playing tennis, I always fall when the ball is directed to my right and I have to use a backhand return(yes, I'm left-handed) as I have problems with my power control. Other than that, I am mostly proficient with all the other moves.
For basketball, I have an old basketball at home in which I can play it, but the outer covering, as it is really quite old, is already melting. So, I'm saving up to buy a new basketball. Usually, i like to practice with it when I come home from school. Also, during recess and after school, if i feel like it, I will join my classmates as they have a basketball match at the court downstairs.

Book Review
c0mments!
Hi, I'm back for another English assignment again. This time, I'm going to write on a book review. The book I will be writing on will be Christopher Paolini's "Eldest". This book is well written and also engaging to read. It is the second book in the "Eragon" series.
The plot for "Eldest", is a direct continuation from where the story ended off in the first book "Eragon". In the first books, the main protagonist in the story, Eragon, found a dragon egg in a forest. The dragon in the egg then hatched for him, and then he became a dragon rider. Before, there was once a Rider Order, but it was destroyed by a young rider, Galbatorix, within its own ranks that had turned evil. Now, only he and his followers are Dragon Riders in the realm, and for a century they ruled with fear and hate. Then, the people started to rebel against he and his armies. The rebellion created was called the Varden. Eragon, being the on;y Rider free of the control of Galbatorix, travelled towards the Varden. During his journey he made friends with a mysterious traveller, Murtagh, who saved him from Galbatorix's minions. At the end of book 1, Eragon had already reached the Varden's headquarters and a massive battle will take place there, ending with Eragon slaying Durza, who was a powerful sorcerer and one of Galbatorix's trusted aides.
The story of Eldest starts when Eragon is sent to the Elf city of Ellesmera to continue his training in Magic and in Swordplay. There, he explores the deepest paths of Magic, and ultimately, this chages not only his appearance and strength, but also how he thinks. Meanwhile, back at the village of Carvahall, after a series of unfortunate events, Eragon's cousin, Roran, has to take up the mantle of being the leader of the village and to protect it against Galbatorix's minions, the Ra'zac, and his army of soldiers. He commanded the villages to barricade the village, and they fought very hard. However, eventually, the whole village gets overrun and forced to flee to the Varden, where they join as soldiers. At the end of this second book, a great battle is held on the Burning Plains, after Murtagh is captured by Galbatorix and twisted to his evil ways. It is then revealed that Murtagh was Eragon's half brother, and they fight a great battle, where Eragon is, unfortunately defeated.
The plot of the story is very well structured and shows that the author, Christopher Paolini, has spent a lot of time in constructing the plot and the storyline. It is incredibly detailed, and is an exciting book to read. When it was completed, it was given many positive reviews. The Philadelphia Inquirer says, "Those who are eagerly anticipating the follow-up will be thrilled with this rich, sophisticated novel. And to those who have never considered reading a book with something like a dragon on its cover, Paolini may make a believer of you yet. I, for one, can't wait to find out what happens in book three." The story of this book also goes far beyond a desperate war. There is also romance, brotherly love, angst, and other major qualities that show case what hardships the protagonists have to go through.
Reading "Eldest", is like listening to music. There are some parts which are very long and smooth, some parts that are choppy like the sea, different pitches, tones(yes, I learned how to play the piano), and finally, a fantastic ending that promises a lot more.
I recommend this book for readers of all ages, as it transcends time and place for readers and it combines simplicity with an overpowering plot.

CCA
c0mments!
Hi, I'm back again, this time, to talk about my CCA. If you don't know what is a CCA, let me tell you. It is basically a co-curricular activity, to let you relax after one whole hectic week of school. Of course, there are also competitive CCAs like "Badminton" and "Soccer", which involve exhaustive competitions. Fortunately, my CCA in school is Scouts. It is a popular uniform group, which means that the group members have to wear a uniform. We have a meeting every Saturday, and the first event of the day is flagbreak, when we hoist the flag of our scout unit. Next, is closely followed by PT, or physical training. Usually, we must run a long distance for this. Then. we will have our lectures and tests. In this part, our seniors will teach us some new skills like knot tying, etc, and we will be tested on it. After this, we will always have our footdrill. It is the period of time when we will have to learn and practise parade commands, as parades are very important in some Scouting events. Then, we will have our Patrol Corner, which is when all the members of each patrol get together and decides who will write the log of the day, in his own perspective. All these logs will be written in the patrol's so-called "Diary", which contains the logs written by past members of the patrol of past meetings. In my opinion, I think all this is like some sort of time capsule, to keep the memory of all that has happened since the founding of the unit.
There are also many interesting events throughout the year for my CCA. For example, at the end of the year, we will always have a End-Of-Year camp. Mostly, it will be held in November, but the venue is unknown, as sometimes it is different. If we were lucky, the principal will send us overseas to represent my school in some overseas event. Also, on 22nd February, which is Founder's Day, it is compulsory for us Scouts to wear the Scout Uniform to school, as to honour the day the founder, Lord Baden Powell, created the Scouts.
In addition, there are also many hands on projects hosted by the Scouts each year. For example, at the start of the year, we have an Annual Job Week, which means that we have to do odd jobs for a week, in order to earn money for the Scouts Association. This is usually quite fun, although occasionally it may be a little tiring. There will be an amount that each Scout of different levels have to earn. If they can meet this criteria, they will get a badge called the "Bumblebee", signifying that you are a capable worker. In the middle of the year, there is also an Annual Donation Draw. For this draw, we Scouts have to go around selling lucky draw tickets to the members of the public. If you are lucky, you may win one of the top prizes listed on the ticket. As the name implies, all the money collected from selling the tickets will be donated to charity.
This is all i will say for now. I hope you will be inspired by me to go join th Scouts as your CCA!

My interest is...(english hw)
c0mments!
Hi, I'm back again. Today, I'm going to start off with another topic: my interest. Tell me first, do any of you like to play video games? Well, I do, and like my earlier post, I like to play shooter games, or any games that includes a shooting element, and role-playing games. Like I said before, I like playing science fiction and fantasy games, so games that fall in to science fiction or fantasy games, most of the time fall into either shooter or role playing, or maybe both. Take a game called “Mass Effect”, it is actually a science fiction shooter game that also incorporates some role playing too. This enhances the games playing experience and hence, its popularity. Back to the point, gaming, to me is a hobby, a great one at that, although my parents don’t think so. Actually, most adults do, with the few exceptions of those that DO like gaming. They think that as children and students, we should concentrate on our studies, so that when we grow up, we can have a successful career, and playing video games are in no way, beneficial and instead, only hampers the children’s ability to learn and study. Maybe, the reason they are so negative towards it is that they did not have video games in their childhood, as they only became all the rage since the start of the 21th century.
My favourite games are Assassin’s Creed 2 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, although I have many more games and also play my Halo series occasionally. The beauty of these games is that they have an intense storyline, especially Call of Duty and Halo. The Modern Warfare series has won over ten awards due to its engaging storyline and game play. Although I do not play that much, as I can only play on weekends and during then, only sparingly, I am still not bad at those games, especially Modern Warfare 2(Mod War 2). I generally play that game on Xbox live, since I have completed the campaign, and I love to feel the thrill of the game when I compete with players around the globe.
Also, I’m able to CONTROL myself when gaming. This is one important quality most gamers lack. CONTROL is to stop at a prearranged time, CONTROL is to not go overboard with playing, and CONTROL is also what you need to make sure you do not day dream about your games when studying. That is why the absolute most amount of time I have gamed in my entire life straight, is a mere FOUR hours. That’s right; to really hardcore gamers this is only a short span of time, more like four minutes than four hours to them.
However, I cannot go and buy new games myself. My parents restrict me from doing that, lest I go overboard in saving my money and starving myself etc. They say that a healthy body is more important than games, and I totally agree. That’s why only they can buy games for me, and only when I earn them, like when I do well in my studies etc.
To end this post, I will hereby congratulate Bungie, Infinity Ward, Ubisoft for all the effort put in to create these great games.
